St. Michael’s Veterans Center Phase III Apartment Homes
Over 60 New Affordable Homes for Veterans Opening this Fall 2025
St. Michael’s Veterans Center is expanding. This fall and winter (2025), we will open Phase III of our veterans apartment community, adding 62 new homes designed exclusively for veterans who need safe, stable, and affordable housing.
If you are a veteran in need of housing, you may qualify to live here.
Who Qualifies?
To be eligible for a Phase III apartment, you must:
- Be a U.S. military veteran
- Currently be homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Earn less than $34,000 per year
- Our apartment homes are reserved for veterans who need not just housing, but also a supportive community dedicated to helping you thrive.

How to Apply
We’ve thoughtfully created a simple application process.
- Complete the Preliminary Waitlist Application
- Deliver it to the campus property management office at 3838 Chelsea Drive, KCMO 64128
- Fax it to us at 816-873-1242.
- Email it to us info@smvets.org
- Provide proof of veteran status (DD214), homelessness and income eligibility
- Submit your application as soon as possible – apartments are expected to fill quickly.
- You must attend an in-person screening to complete a formal application with property management and the KC Housing Authority. October dates will be set soon.

Our Apartments
Our affordable apartments are as convenient as they are comfortable. We are situated in the heart of Kansas City at 3818 Chelsea Drive – the intersection of Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and Leeds Trafficway. Our campus is minutes from our neighbors at the VA Medical Center. We are minutes from dining and grocery options, and the campus is on a bus route.
Our one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments at St. Michael’s Veterans Center are designed especially for veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, with various special needs. Every apartment offers spacious living areas, fully-equipped kitchens with granite countertops, walk-in showers, and generous storage space.
We offer several amenities, including a clubhouse, fitness center, computer center, and library. For added convenience, we proudly offer an on-site laundry facility, elevator access, and controlled entry.
